The VAR AGM 2021 is being hosted by the

Southland Branch of the VAR NZ.

Gore is approximately 45 minutes from Invercargill,

and 1½ hours from Dunedin and Queenstown.

We would be able to assist with pickups from Invercargill airport if necessary.

We decided on Gore as it is very central to both Southland and Central Otago.  Now with the restrictions on travel from overseas it could be a great time to see Central Otago or Te Anau and Milford, especially if you are travelling Austin style.  March is an excellent time, weather wise.  Overnight it is starting to cool but we usually get lots of sunshine during the day through till 9.30 at night.  Our sun is hotter at this end of the country and our 16 would be equivalent to your 20!

Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen!

All accommodation in the Gore township will be only 5-10 minutes from our venue the Heartland Hotel Gore.
The Heartland Hotel Croydon has accommodation available on site at discounted rates. Standard Room (Queen + single) $155/night Superior Room (King) $190/night. Some rooms can be done up as share twins Suite (KING +fold out) $275/night.

Room price for 2. Additional person $35.
Some other accommodation options are the Esplanade Motel, Oakleigh Motel, Riverlea Motel, and the Charlton Motel.  These all have good off-street parking.  We also have a lot of B&B’s including 'Melody' which has about 10 rooms with ensuites and is great for groups.

Accommodation is the attendee's responsibility.

Our Saturday outing to Croydon Airfield has scenic flights available in Tiger Moths, Fox Moths and Dominie.  Bookings would have to be made in advance so that pilots would be ready and waiting.  Something to think about.

Gore history revolves around the Hokonui Hills and the Moonshine Brewing when prohibition was in full swing here, we also have a wonderful museum with its own brewery for those who wish to share a tipple.

All this is just to mention a few things happening in Gore.  And our Vintage Car Club is directly across the road from our venue with a Parts Department!

What more do we need?!

We will endeavour to fit the AGM in as well!
Most of all we look forward to catching up with all our fellow Austineers.
